Please help a non-technical newb deactivate/reassign a malfunctioning F7 button.
 

Believe me, I have tried to help myself on this one but I simply do not understand the documentation I am reading.

I am on an Acer Aspire One running Xubuntu and I have a problem which is rendering my machine almost unusable and I have work to do. My patience is wearing really thin :(

My F7 button is jammed/activating itself, causing various types of chaos. As a workaround I want to deactivate it or remap it or somesuch. I know it is possible, I just have no idea how. Please help a jaded new Xubuntu user get back to getting to know his new OS.
