Please help!!


Ok i just got linux RH7.2 and i installed it every thing went fine.i went to get new drivers for my geforce 2 mx400 i installed them and every thing seemed to go fine.till i put in startx to go back to GUI and it said ERROR code 11 something about server can't connect or suttin like that i'm sorry i can't be more accurate i hope you guy's can make some sence of this.I put in the kernel and the GLX file and it said they went in and i'm pritty sure they where the right one's so i dunno what happed.Thx in advance

did you recompile the kernel?

you have to install the NVIDIA-kernel ??? every time

also did you logout of x when this problem started or is it on a fresh reboot

I was loged out of X. I was in shell when i did it I did not turn the system of i put in the drivers.then typed startx to go back to GUI but it failed said something code 11 and suttin about it could not connect or log into X server.

Post the error message from /var/log/XFree86.0.log for us.

also make sure you are not loading dri , and that the driver is set to nvidia in the XF86Config-4 file


you just want the font modules and the glx modules

Thx for the help guy's

I fixed it sure enough i had the wrong kernel.but thx for the way to copy error's aussie i'm sure that will come in hady alot as i learn linux.I really hope things go smooth and i can adapt to this OS cause from what i've seen so far with patience and practice this is a hole lot better then windows.
