Playing .WMV Files In SuSE 9.2 Pro
Greetings all:
I have a few movies that are .wmv format, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to play these in Linux. I'd like to remove the Windows partition soon enough, so I'll need to know this... OS: SuSE 9.2 Pro I understand that I'm going to have to install some codecs, could someone point me to where these codecs would be? (RPM plz) Also will Kaffeine play these files or am I going to have to install another player, and if so which one? Thanks for the help in advance. |
Not familiar with Kaffeine, but MPlayer is your typical solution for this. It can be a bit of a pain to set up and get going, depending on your distro (SuSE should be fairly easy), but once running, you simply add codecs as needed, and a skin you like, and run with it. It's got plugins for mozilla/firefox/netscape as well, so your browser can open these files also.
Like I said, it isn't always the easiest to get started with, but once you get it going, it's a pleasure to use, and it's probably the most widespread item available for playing wmv files on Linux. |
