Playing Video CDs in Xine

Hi,

I just installed xine (like it a lot), but I have a few music CD's which come with a video track at the end.
I have tried looking in the /media/cdrom (and the other /media directories) but it seems that they are all empty while the CD is playing.

I took a look at the xine FAQ about this and the closest I can find is about support for VCD, which sounds like what I need. It states there that I need to

<quote> have a /dev/cdrom alias pointing to your CDROM drive which you will use to play back the (S)VCD. </quote>

The problem is, I don't know where my CDrom drive is actually mounted.
I tried to type

$ alias /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom/ (and the other directory options)

but this gives me an error

bash: alias: /dev/cdrom: not found
bash: alias: /media/cdrom/: not found

I assume I'm doing something horribly wrong, but can anyone suggest how to fix it?

Many thanks

hi there
in xine u need to click on VCD tab in the xine controls bar, which will automatically play the VCD for u

u need not mount any VCD for that

if u want to mount VCD then u may go here for that
