Playing .bin (VCD,SVCD) with VLC

I set vlc as default video player, so when I click on a mpeg or avi it automatically loads up vlc player and starts playing. I also put .bin files to open with vlc but when I click on the .bin files vlc doesnt load up and gives me an error "Couldn't Display...the filename" But when I right click on the bin files and click on open with vlc, it works fine. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Why not open it as a vcd instead of trying to play the files themselves. Try reading the docs man pages. I know vlc can play vcd svcds directly.
