Hi there,
I have recently made a complete transition from Windows XP to Mandrake 10.1, knowing full well that since I am a complete linux n00b, I would have some difficulties along the way, but linux to me is a challenge, it's free and it's a damn sight more asthetically pleasing than XP!
Now here is my question, and I appologise if it has already been mentioned on the forums before, I did a search which yeilded no related results to my specific problem.
Is there a way to get a folder to open up in XMMS, or even Amarok, when clicked from a quickbrowser button? Here is a screenshot to show you what I mean:
mervo.co.uk/desktop.jpg (I can't post a full URL
)
When I used XP and Winamp, under the same quickbrowsing method, I could right click any folder within the list that pops up from the toolbar and there was an option to play the folder in Winamp. I don't seem to be able to get this option on my mandrake quickbrowser, and i was wondering whether it is possible or not? Also, the right click option isn't there in Linux.
I have had a tinker with file associations, but to no avail, The only MIME time that I found that resembled folders was under INODE/DIRECTORY, where I added XMMS as an application in the application preference order (below Knonqueror of which was already there), but XMMS fails to show up in the quickbrowser menu when I click it.
What I find strange is that Open in Terminal and Open in File Manager are the two options available right now (as you can see in the jpg) but I don't see these two options under the INODE/DIRECTORY applications list, only the original entry of Knoqueror and the entry I added which is XMMS.
I'm confused! In the jpg I posted, are the little blue icons "folders" or are they some other MIME type that I should be searching for?
I just want the option of playing a folder in XMMS from a quickbrowser
