play back an ISO file


Hello all,

I have an ISO file which is essentially contains DVD Video.

I can mount this ISO file using the command:

sudo mount /home/user/dvd.iso -t iso9660 /media/mountpoint -o loop
I want to be able to play this ISO file so that I can varify the DVD menus work in they way they should, prior to burning the DVD movie to a disc.

How do I play the mounted image?

just play it using the iso file as the dvd drive, e.g. mplayer -dvd-device=/home/user/dvd.iso dvd://1

VLC and Totem can play ISO files. At least I've never had any problems with those.
