"Places" letting me down again!!!

Cannot open any folders from "Places". Tried to solve the problem the way I was told to do last time, but could not get it running... One shortcut that I have installed on my desktop is working, though. I have Ubuntu 10.10. Help, someone?

Can you post the contents of your .local/share/applications/mimeapps.list file? It's in your home directory.

This is what I put there today trying to solve the problem the same way you told me last time. Does not seem to work...

Haha, yes, now I remember. Sorry about that...

Can you still open them through nautilus itself?

No problem with Nautilus

You can always try to rebuild gnome-panel. Found this code on the ubuntu site:
Code:

gconftool-2 --shutdown
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel

Note that this removes all customization of the panel.

Removed customization alright, but did not solve the problem...

Hey Guys!! Don't leave me out in the cold with this. Anyone got a suggestion what to try??? Re-install or what???

teboil12 03-21-2011 07:00 AM

Found it!!!

I went to Nautilus, chose a file, chose "open with other something", then clicked on filebrowser and that's it!! Now "places" is back to business. (Feel like a real expert on this, piece of cake!).

Damn, you beat me to it man. I was going to say that next, I swear.... That is a common problem that keeps popping up all over the internet. Glad you got it figured out though man.

Cheers,

Josh
