Ping command returned status 2

Hello,

I ran the ping command from a CentOS 5 SSH session with packet count set to 2 -

Code:
ping -c 2 IP_ADDRESS
The command returned a status of 2. The man page states that this error code is returned if an error has occurred. It does not state the exact cause or the logs where an exact cause or any hint can be found.

How do I find out what is going wrong?

Thanks

Bhushan Pathak
