PHP-CGI seems eating all memory and hangs the server

Hi All,
I have subscribed to cloud hosting and bought Centos 6.2 server with 4GB of memory. I am hoping to make it my web server to host around 10 to 15 website on it. Currently it has only one website and it is hanging the server every few days. When I check the logs it shows:
Quote:

I had the problem today morning again when it said:

I tried the top command and the result looked like this:

It was also showing that CPU usage was around 80% and there was no buffers or cached memory left.

I would appreciate if someone can guide me to check what is causing the problem.

Many Thanks.

You have bad code it seems like. You are running your web applications through php-cgi so I assume you are using +ExecCGI on your vhost, try disabling that and see if it makes a difference. The fcgid module can have some problems executing code. Are you using a contol panel for the virtual server? Something like Plesk?

Thanks for reply.

I am using Hosting Controller as a Control Panel. They didn't support cgi bug has recently started supporting cgi. That could be affecting. I will be able to check more tomorrow.

Appreciate your help.

Hi All,

I am still with no luck to sort the php-cgi out. I came to know that if using cgi, the cpu usage is likely. But it uses more than 60-70%. Load average is around 18.

I have 4G of memory and a core processor. I am running Wordpress so cgi will be needed for file/folder permission issues.

Do you think adding processor or memory will solve the issue. Do I need to check any further settings of PHP to find out why php-cgi is using 50% of cpu.

Please guide me to right direction as I am having downtime every day on my website.

Many thanks.

Its more htan likely a wordpress plugin. Have you enabled the MySQL slow query log and reviewed that? Also, try disabling all of the plugins for wordpress, then turn each one on until you can re-produce the problem. A lot of times these are just bad plugins.

Hello again,

Thanks for your help. It seems working fine now. Couple of tables from a plug-in were crashed and that was creating trouble.

However, I have noticed something else related to php-cgi and kernel and not sure if it is serious or not. It says:

What kernel version are you running?

do a

Code:
