php & xml install question

newbie here...

i installed mandrake 10 and it came with php installed, but it does not have xml support enabled, how do i enable that, or install it again with xml support enabled?

i tried lookin at php.net, with no luck.

thanks in advance.

i also would like to know what apxs is and where i would find it, as my mandrake search function has been crashing my computer, and i have no idea what the various folders are for.

again... thanks

Did you work this out?

While researching the same issue I found the following post at xoops.org ... http://www.xoops.org/modules/newbb/v...=16266&forum=3

It lead me to recognize php-xml support is a seperate RPM for Mandrake 10. I found it through the RPMDrake update function. The RPM is on install CD 2.

I installed the RPM and my Mambo site started working without error.

Thanks, hope this helps others.

thank you for your response

i was also researching the issue when i finally ran a php script with the phpinfo() function called within it.
the output listed all of the running and/or possible modules for php, and xml was one of them, it also listed next to the list a method of activating those modules, so i ran the command and am still not sure if it worked or not, because I tried it without restarting the computer (and therefore the server) and it didnt work. I then used the configure information supplied at the top of the phpinfo() function output to install the latest version of php (which has xml support enabled by default) and restarted the computer and it worked, so... it may work both ways, i'm not sure.

again, thanks for your response tho.
