PHP 5.2.9 install instructions

I've built a Centos6.3 machine with Apache 2.2 and mysql, got that working no probs. I need to install PHP 5.2 (have chosen 5.2.9 as I know this is stable, 5.3 and above seems to break the archive) to run an restore and delve into an archived help desk package with 4 years of history.

All the instructions I can find just refer to yum (which doesn't have 5.2 any more..). I've found a tar version of the install, have run the configure and make. Can anyone point me to instructions on manually configuring PHP from a fresh install?

You can always go with installing the rpm, the only down side is that it won't install any requirements like yum would.

Check out http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=php and find the one you need and install.

Thanks for the suggestion, however the RPM's on this site refer to ppc systems and has truckload of dependacies which aren't compatible.

Hi,

I had added the Webtatic REPO to install v5.2.17, now it's still in repository data with the name "php-5.2.17-1.1.w5.i386.rpm"
For me that was the best "yum package" for PHP 5.2.

good luck
