Smile Permit /opt/ in ubuntu

Hello! I'm running XAMPP, and I need to make a certain folder in /opt/ so I can write to it. Its read-only now, and I cant edit the changes in the properties. I should go into root, right? Well, I dont know how to do that. Can someone please help me?

Thanks!

The Ubunu way is to use sudo - "sudo chmod ..." from a terminal session shoud do it.
"man chmod"
