Permission issues on ksh

Hi there,

I'm having the following problem: I'm a university student and have a shell account at a server when I list the permissions of my home directory it says that I should have execute permissions on all files inside..and indeed I can run scripts, however no binaries. The following error comes out: 0403-006: Execution permission denied. -And yes I have set execute permission on the binary. Now my question is is that a security feature enabled by the administrator or am I screwing something up?? And is there any way to bypass it because I really need to run this binary...

Some binaries require root permission to run so it may be that. Also it may be that they are using ACLs there so you may be restricted by something other than standard file permissions. (See "man acl".)

It may be that you have permission to run the binary but the binary itself is attempting to access something that requires permissions it doesn't have.
