Permission Issue Writing to NAS Share

Hi All,

New to LQ! Glad to be here!

I have an OpenFiler NAS on my home network that is setup for guest access using cifs(no ldap/AD). For convenience I added a line to fstab to auto mount the share everytime I logon.
Code:
//x.x.x.x/path.share/ /mnt/share cifs guest,_netdev 0 0
This is nice and all but I have issues when trying to write to the NAS. For instance I can't copy anything to /mnt/share without it being write protected. Also when I dl torrents using transmission and point my save path to the NAS I get a "insufficient permissions" error message in transmission. Is this because I am accessing the NAS via guest? Do I need some sort of authentication in place?

Thanks

Look at the mount man page for the uid, gid, file_mode and dir_mode options. The permissions for a cifs file system are determined when you mount it, if the Unix cifs extensions aren't supported.
