Permission Denied when running a program?

I'm trying to run some programs mainly ./build-ca for OpenVPN but i get this error: bash: ./build-ca: Permission denied

Any reason why this would occur? I'm logged on as root and this isn't the only program that generates thie error.

I'm also a complete linux newbie.

Maybe there aren't executable permissions on the programs you're trying to run? What does "ls -l filename" show you (replace filename, obviously..)?

You might want to try "chmod a+x filename" and then try running the file again.
