Peppermint Ice

I have peppermint ice on my wired connection and I have two laptops with windows. How do I setup a shell account so I can access my Linux machine from my laptops? BTW the laptops are on a wireless connection.

It depends on various conditions. For example, you would need to know the IP address of the Linux machine, and the wired machine need also be connected to the wireless router, not the modem, so that you can use your local IP. However, once you have the local IP configured on the Linux machine, then yes, you can configure the X server (look somewhere in GNOME's Preferences menu, which would really be Mint Menu -> All Applications -> Preferences) to allow remote login, and then you can browse to the computer's IP address and remotely access it.
