PCLinuxOS


Hello everyone..

i have just installed PCLinuxOS. complete the installation it prompt for reboot the system,after rebooting it gives kernel panic error.please tell me the solution

Post the exact message before the kernel panic.

You need to know more about boot time kernel parameters.
(Do a google search on that)

Maybe the driver for your SATA drive is not loaded?

What type of PC hardware do you have?

How about some useful information? What does it panic on? What kind of hardware are you using? Have you tried any other Linux distros?

Red Hat nash version 4.2.17mdk starting
Loading jbd.ko module
Loading ext3.ko module
Mounting /proc filesystem
Mounting sysfs

Mounting tmpfs on/dev
Creating root device
Trying to resume from /dev/hdc5
Unable to access resume device (/dev/hdc5)

Mounting root filesystem /dev/root
mount: error 6 mounting ext3 flags defaults
well, retrying without the option flags
mount: error 6 mounting ext3
well, retrying read-only without any flag
mount: error 6 mounting ext3
Switching to new root
ERROR opening /dev/console!!!!: 2
unmounting old /proc
unmounting old /sys
switchroot: mount failed: 22
Initrd finished
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!


I have tried Linux mint and it works fine, configuration of my pc is :-
P-IV 3.06Ghz
H/D- 80GB SATA
RAM 256MB
