PCI Wireless card
 

hi Guys,

I'm completely new to Linux, and installed Mandrake 9.2 a couple of days ago.
Everything appears to be working fine except my wireless network card.

Its a Belkin F5D6001 version2 which uses an Atmel chipset. I have read many of the posts on this forum regarding these cards, and have downloaded drivers from Sourceforge.
The drivers state that they are for PCI, PCMCIA, and USB. Mine is an internal PCI card, but when attempting to 'install' the drivers, I get errors regarding my PCMCIA files.

To be honest, i'm not even completely sure that i am going about this the correct way... I have been running 'make all' from the command line as root, whcih starts to do stuff, but errors on PCMCIA settings.

Does anyone know where I can find a tried and tested driver for a PCI Card, or perhaps even clue me in to what i am doing wrongly.

I have the same problem the mandrake 9.2 and I dont cant find out how to fix it.

Clould you please tell me what is the url with the pcmcia drivers.

well, its kinda strange.

Further investigation has shown me that it isn't an Atmel chipset, but is in fact a ADMtek chipset. I have found this out using a very technical approach of removing the card from the machine and looking at the name written on the chip.

I presume that the 2 companies are one and the same, possible a merger either way, the drivers i had been using which appear to be PCMCIA drivers are located at http://sourceforge.net/projects/atmelwlandriver.

I hope these are more use to you than they were to me.

`If you can see any numbers on the chip along with ADMtek, the people here who know their stuff ( not me, sorry ) will probably want to know them.
The nic I use has an ADMtek ADM8211 chip. The linux drivers for it work with mandrake 9.2.
If you have the ADM8211 chip the drivers are available at the ADMtek website.
