Path in csh

I have RedHat 7.1 installed and am setting path in .login. What do I have to do so when I login that path is set? I thought it
read that path automatically. It does on my Solaris box.

But with my Redhat box I have to do a source .login.

Otherwise I just have the default path.

Any ideas?

P.S. what is the difference between path and PATH

I think that PATH is the variable that the system searches. On my box the variable path is empty, for instance. So your problem my be assigning values to the wrong variable :)
Just a thought, I use Slack 8.1 by the way.

Okay I think I need to clarify this. If I'm logging in using KDE, is the .login or .cshrc being sourced? It seems as though I have to either source them manually or su to may own account,

IS KDE logging in me in or just a gui over top of the OS?
