Patching 50 or more Redhat servers using a repository

Patching 50 or more Redhat servers using a repository.
How to created a local repository that can be used to patch other local Redhat servers. As the environment grows and more Redhat servers are brought online we do not want to have go outside the network on every server to download security updates.

If you're using RedHat and are therefore paying RedHat then why not ask their advice on best practise?

Puppet / Spacewalk would also be logical starting points.

For a smaller footprint solution, and something that doesn't take extensive training to use, you can create your own yum repo:

https://access.redhat.com/site/docum...epository.html

https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...a-centos-6-vps

Then add it to your 50 servers, and set up yum autoupdate.

There's basically 3 options:

1. Satellite/Spacewalk; makes you self-sufficent internally
2a. RHN Proxy: your boxes contact this one, this one goes out onto the net
2b. ... http://kenfallon.com/?p=176
3. local repo : poor man's version of (1) https://code.google.com/p/iredmail/w...Yum_Repository
