Question partioning HD for linux


What is the best HD partioner to use?

Dependingo on the distro, you'll have several optons at install.

But after that, all you have is fdisk and its variants. (cfdisk is the best for newbies, IMHO).

You can also use commercial apps, like partition magic, I think.

i am about to install mandrake 8.2
so r u saying i dont need to partion b4 install because i have heard MD8.2 has its own partition maker

Yes, it has its' own. And it's really easy to use.

I am running Drake 8.2 myself and, yes, it has a very easy to use partition program that you can use during the install. Just choose the option to customize your partitions. You can set up Linux as well as FAT (Windows) partitions in it.
