I have been using Paragon's latest Disk Manager Suite 2008 - to do some hard disk cleanup and partitioning. I created an Extended partition and then 3 logical partitions. So, my (large) hard disk looked something like this:
sdb1 - physical partition - main Linux (Ubuntu 8.04.1)
sdb2 - physical partition - secondary Linux (Kubuntu 8.10)
sdb3 - physical partition - /home for Ubuntu
sdb4 - Extended partition
sdb5 - Logical partition (empty)
sdb6 - Logical partition (empty)
sdb7 - Logical partition (empty)

I set Paragon up to format all 3 Logical partitions at the same time and also assigned labels which were the same as the corresponding SCSI ID (sdb5=sdb5, and so on)

When Paragon was done I closed it and then ran 'blkid" only to see that the 3 Logical partitions all had the identical UUID. Not a good thing. I went into gparted and reformatted all 3 individually and that set up unique UUID's (is that redundant?) I then used 'e2label' to set the labels. All is ok now but I thought the warning to anyone else using Paragon was in order.

You're right..i encountered something similar using Powerquest Partition Manager 8 and the solution was using gparted

Evey Penguin-addicted knows that everything works better and doesn't cause any problem if you work on partition with gparted/qtparted /...etc
