ok. i killed the default panel and made a new one. but i deleted the little thingy that says if theirs an update to install for redhat. any way to get it back? it's a menu panel, so is their a way to move the whole panel (the help said you can't but maybe their's another way...) Also, does red hat come with any or are their any good program for writing HTML, like frontpage or dreamweaver? Thanks!

I don't know if RedHat comes with any good HTML editors, but I did a search on www.google.com/linux (a.k.a. G4L) and found a pretty good supply of reading for you.

I searched for html editor and I went to the RedHat website and found that it comes with an HTML editor called "quanta" for KDE. I don't know what RedHat version you have, but this package list was for RH 8.0. If it doesn't come with your version of RH, the G4L search above should give you some ideas to start with. :)

Right click on your panel and choose 'add applet', the one you want is called redhat network monitor or somesuch.

As far as html editors are concerned, bluefish and quanta are the two big ones. The are not wysiwyg however, so you will need to learn to code by hand (if you don't already). It's for the best though...those two programs you mentioned are notorious for creating bloated bunk html code.

I agree with you about the bloated and bunked HTML code in FrontPage (I don't know about dream weaver). A friend of mine uses FrontPage and I'm always having to fix his code up to get rid of too many <P>'s or whatever. They put LOTS of extra garbage in their code. I taught myself HTML in a couple of days just by viewing sources. If I can do it, anyone can do it. There are LOTS of HTML tutorials online as well that might be of use. Just google for HTML help and you'll get a bunch of links. They're very useful. And it's also much more satisfying to look at a really nicely done table knowing that you created it by hand using nothing but text, not some point 'n click gui software. Just my opinion.

To get the "little thingy that says if theirs an update to install for redhat" type:

rhn-applet-gui&

in a shell. Mine is very buggy. Every time something else goes into that area the applet disappears. Pain in the neck!

Just run up2date every so often. When you register for the RHN they will email you with security updates, to tell you to run it.
