PAM and Xserver

Hi,
been searching the forum for a while and none has came up with a solution for the PAM authentication failed, cannot start x server error if u try to startx using ssh on a remote server. Neither did google.
This only works with root acces wich is pretty weird seen the warning u get when logging in as root where u get called dumb for running as root
Redhat 9 server and slackware 9 client.
