Palm Pilot

When configuring Palm Pilot, I cannot get the daemon kpilot to start. Kpilot cannot find the port. When I go in to the terminal and type Kpilot I get a variety of error messages : Incompatible sender/receiver.
Error: Opendatabase I have changed settings using both /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1. Any suggestions?
