Thx for the urls :) I hope i can now nderstand more form fedora when i have install it.... and i hope that fedora olmost the same is as SuSE :) |
both distros are rpm based, fedora i believe is more closely tied to redhat than suse. suse has the yast tool, which i understand to be a "one tool to configure all" so to speak, while fedora has multiple tool to configure different things, however, there seems to be a gui tool for everything. you should get along fine w/fedora and it's multiple tools.
good luck. |
i use the apt package management tool with fedora and like it quite well. it was originally a debian app but has been ported to redhat and consequently fedora. here's a link to a howto:
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/ap...pt-get.en.html it also has a nice gui front end called synaptic, though i have found it to be slower than using it at the command line. here's another howto with some download links: http://www.fedora.us/wiki/FedoraHOWTO hope this helps. edit: i've found this post to be very useful for those new to fedora, definitely worthy of a bookmark and has a nice section on getting and installing apt. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=162190 |
