Package updater concurrent access

Hello guys!

I just installed FC6 fresh from the server. I have not configured anything else than the Xserver.
But now I have a message on the desktop telling me than I have more than a hundred packages available.
So I click the "Apply updates" button, which launches the "package updater" programm. Another pop up window appears on the spot telling me that "Another application is running which is accessing software information".
Therefore I can't update the rpms, nor install any other software.
I have tried to reboot several times, but with no success.

How can I find which process is concurrently accessing the resource? How can I kill it?

Thanks beforehand

Regards

Bertrand

Hi,
try unsing yum (update application for linux).
it will find the updates available and find the dependencies for them.
you might have to import some pgp keys. you can find the keys on this site as well
as the instructions how to do that.
back to yum. log in as super user with su command, type in your admin password and type in yum update -y. that should be very simple.
cool

Hello thanks

Yum worked fine from the command line. Seems like it was a problem from the GUI front end, and not a problem caused by a lock somewhere.
My box is now up to date.

Thanks for your help!
