Package manager window will not close or respond

Hi all

I'm determined to finally learn and stick with a Lunux distro Currently trying to find my way with Lubuntu and hit what I hope is a minor issue.

I downloaded Ubuntu Tweak from, I think,'OMG Ubuntu' site. There was a hiccup with the download and I was prompted to type 'sudo apt-get install -f' in a terminal. The download seemed to complete ok but it won't open when I click it in System Tools.

Also the Package Installer window will neither close nor respond in any other way. I suspect a reboot might sort it but before I do that I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced this and/or can shed some light.

Thanks in advance guys.

PS EDIT

And a really simple extra Q that the search engines can't seem to answer; how do I create a new folder in my home folder page and also a USB stick? Grateful for any help.

Simon62,

Which version of Lubuntu are you using?

Reboot your machine and open Terminal.

Then type these commands one at a time.

After each one press the Enter key.

When you are asked for your password, type it accurately (it is not displayed for security), then press Enter again.

Code:
sudo apt-get purge ubuntu-tweak

sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get clean

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:tualatrix/ppa && sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak

It is possible that you may have some broken packages. If so, report back.

Open your Home folder, right click on blank space with the folder, then click on Create Folder.

Give it a name instead of Untitled-1.

Similar procedure for new folder in a USB drive.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for the delay getting back to you, all sorts of things suddenly came up at once, health, family etc etc..

I am dual booting, currently having something of an issue with an XP infection, have to stay in xp whilst a friendly TSG advisor takes me through it.

I will follow your instructions and report back as soon as I am able.

Thanks again.
