owner and groups
 

Hi all!

I am playing with network and multiuser functions. If user a creates or copies a file b, then b has a set of user/group/others rights.

How do I control the "standard" values for this rights? I think. it is lacking comfort, if any user has to change the rights of his files by hand all the time. Is it possible to give a standard or something like this?

I belive, the umask goes in this direction, but I don't understand my readings very well...

You got the idea, to control the default settings for the files, you want to use umask to do this.

I'll see if I can't find a good tutorial on umask, as yes, at times the man pages aren't very straight forward.. ;)
