Overriding/Changing Root Pwd for Mandrake 4.0 with Lilo


Hi All,

I have Mandrake 4.0 on my P IV machine. But i have lost both my root and user passwords. Now i need to reset my root password so that in future i can mount CDs.


Any Help ?

What is Mandrake 4.0? I think, Mandrake (which is now Mandriva) started in 1998 with version 5.1. I can only find some Mandrake Corporate Server 4.0 in Google...

In general, to restore root password, you boot in the single user mode and run the passwd command.
