output mirror vedio via VGA?

hi there:

i am running Fedora Core2 on a toshiba portege with dual boot. my question is that how would i set it up so that i can use the spare VGA output at th back to give a morrir output of my LCD screen? i tried booting up with a external CRT plugged in and the fedora ended up using that as the displlay instead.

any ideas?

many thanks
