Hello,

I use Office 2007 for Word and Excel because of document regulations at work. I don't use Outlook but all applications from Office 2007 work correctly with CrossOver which is build around Wine.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hello,

please can you tell me the installation part, like how did you install office 2007 word and excel on linux???

it would be helpfull. . :)

Hi,

By buying a license of CrossOver, installing it and then install Office 2007 from the CD and activating it with the company's volume license. Once you have CrossOver installed you'll have the necessary menu options to create a bottle (container in which CrossOver will save all relevant information and keys) and from the same menu you'll be able to launch the installer directly from the media which is no different to the Windows installer.

Kind regards,

Eric

What does prevent you to try a Linux mail client in place of Outlook? What are the benefits? If you have an existing mailbox under Outlook you can easily import all your e-mails under Kmail or Thunderbird. Here is some useful links that explain how to do that:

Here is an interesting link about office 2007 installation under wine: http://mediakey.dk/~cc/howto-office-...nux-with-wine/. As you can see it requires some hacks before running the setup.exe. If you succeed, please post the results here for benefit of future outlookers! ;)

According to the Wine Application Database you will run into serious problems with Outlook on Wine. So I would say you either try it with Crossover Office or run it on Windows if you really need it.

Hi,

You could also try Evolution. I use it and am very satisfied with it.

Kind regards,

Eric

Well, did you read the posts that were given here?
  • You were asked why you don't use a native Linux client...and you didn't answer.
  • colucix posted a link detailing the many things you have to do to make this work under Wine. You didn't reply, say if you tried them, or what the results were.
  • TobiSGD pointed you to the Wine database, where is is very well documented that Outlook doesn't work well (if at ALL), under Wine. But you did not acknowledge it.
Outlook support is marginal, at best, and this has been pointed out to you. The questions others asked still stand, and posting what you've tried (or even saying you READ the suggestions), would be a good thing. Folks have said from the beginning that Outlook on Linux isn't a good idea, and have offered suggestions. Seems like you don't read/follow them.
