Out of range signal ubuntu
I am using Ubuntu 8.04, when I boot the message "OUT OF RANGE SIGNAL" appears on the monitor. It stays there for about 40 sec and then the system boot. This is quite bothersome I have not found a way to fix this. Also when I shut down the same message stays on the screen and I have to push the on off button to turn the pc off. Any help will be appreciated.

You need to get the brand/model number of your monitor. The vertical/horizontal refresh rates may be wrong in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Also what video card do you have, and what drivers have you tried. I know this happens on my computer if I used ATI's "Drivers" for my ATI HD3870.
On another note, your xorg.conf file may be in /etc/X11RC/xorg.conf .. I dont remember where they were in ubuntu. Let me know what you find, or if you need help. DragonM15 |
