When I restart the services of nagios a window pop-up in the 'nagios.log'saying:

The file:///usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log was modified by another program.

What do you want to do?

'Overwrite' 'Reload File' 'Ignore' 'Cancel'

First stop nagios in the normal way:

/etc/init.d/nagios stop

Then check if multiple Nagios processes are running:

ps -fe | grep nagios

if so, kill them softly:

killall nagios

then check if nagios configuration is ok:

/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
