osscommon error

I am using Rhythmbox 0.5.4.It came with my Fedora Core1 It worked when I first tried playing a ripped ogg file.So ripped some more.Now when I try to play anything I get the error "osscommon: Unable to open /dev/dsp (in use ?)"I found the dsp file it says it is a character file?.I don't understand what that is or a osscommon error.How can I fix this?

do you have system events sounds enebled? if so have you tried disabling them?

Actually I did just turn the system sounds on recently!I did not realize they would clash with other programs.I will try switching them off and post the outcome.
