Oracle Linux 7 How to recover from emergency mode
 

Hi guys

I have a dual boot system, Windows 8.1 primary on a dedicated disk and Oracle linux 7 from another disk. I have total 5 independent disks attached to my semi server type desktop system. Yesterday I switched the SATA port for the disk wherein I have the linux OS installed. As I tried to boot the Linux, I was taken to emergency mode. After some reading I found that I can add "nofail" to the fstab to boot the system, which actually did work.

Once after the system booted, using blkid I confirmed that the entries with the fstab are the same as the block ids returned for the partitions.

What should I do to make sure that I wont have to use "nofail" option with fstab?

Okay I got it guys. Please accept my apologies for not doing my own exercises prior asking the question. I had a partition mounted as /dev/sdc4/ and while I switched the SATA port, the device name has changed to /dev/sdb4 & it was creating the problem.
I changed the fstab entry with UUID and everything is fine now.
