Never used/tried Suse since 6.4, but I currently use RedHat 7.1 and like it so far.
So my vote goes with RedHat since I am familiar with it since I use it most often along with Slackware.

SuSE, red hat is not as user (or newbie friendly) just browse the forums here, and see all the questions from people not being able to get redhat to do common, everyday things without a whole lot of hand editing of their configuration. i dumped redhat at version 6.0. (ok, stay away from that caps lock key, this is just my 2 cents worth)

I have to agree with TK - even though I've been using SuSE since 6.0. For a newbie the problems come in when you want to build stuff from source. Most source is released to compile against the RH tree structure. It'll work in SuSE most of the time, but when it doesn't I have to do some linking.

But I still like SuSE better. :)

i agree, building can be difficult. plus SuSE has started to move toward the linux standards base, so now things are located in strange and wondefull new places.:D
