is working with linux environment easier than working with windows?

snowday 02-02-2012 06:44 PM

I would say, it depends on the skills of the user. What is your personal preference? :)

I'd say it's both easier and harder. What you're asking has NO right answer.

I've used Linux for many years, and I know how to configure things, run programs, edit menus, etc. So when I have to do something on my wifes computer that has Windows, it's fantastically difficult for me, and seems very counter-intuitive and difficult to use. A friend of mine is a Windows guru, and he feels the same way about Linux, while we both think Mac's are difficult.

Short answer: it depends on what you're used to, like anything else. If you've never ridden a motorcycle before, it's challenging...but riding one of those is no more/less difficult than driving a stick-shift car, and after you're used to it, it's trivial.

I think Linux is certainly easier after you learn how to use it.

I'm fairly good with both systems, and I find Linux far more logical underneath than Windows and a lot easier to troubleshoot. When I first started using it, though, it seemed mysterious, because all I was used to was DOS and Windows. (I did have the advantage, having started with DOS, of being quite comfortable using the command line.)

There is a learning curve, because Linux is different. There was a learning curve when you learned how to use Windows, too, but you didn't notice it because it was spread out over time.

It would depend on what you want to do

To listen songs and watch videos and movies ---- windows is the best

to create servers and work around with authentication,permissions.... in a much more secure environment at a much cheaper cost (or free as well) <------linux is the best

It all depends on your skills, efforts, knowledge, how much time you take to grasp and learn things. Otherwise you will find everything difficult. For learning something you need dedication for that thing.

What I feel like is that Windows is link spoon feeding but Linux is something, if you go deep into it you'll come to know that this is the real OS.... :)

There are so many Linux flavours available which are good for linstening songs and watching videos and movies.

And in today's date Linux is much more secure that Windows.

Agreed but I said windows is the best ;)

Satyaveer Arya 02-02-2012 11:21 PM

But I don't think Windows is the best now.

Is this another spammer using Windows 7?

Satyaveer Arya 02-03-2012 01:35 AM

Again

Nope, honsay2002 is not another spammer using Windows 7. I think you(k3lt01) are the one who think he is a spammer. :)

Are you positive, or are you just taking a guess?

What brilliant bit of deductive reasoning did you use to come up with this idea? It is rather obvious isn't it? Let me ease your burden, you don't have to think I think this, I know I think this because I was the one who wrote the post previous to yours and I am k3lt01.

Here's another one.

Because you think he is a spammer not me.

You don't need to ease my burden because I don't think for such stupid questions.

Yeah, I know better you were the only one who wrote the post previous to mine. And you don't need to tell your name. There is nothing in your name here. :)

You don't want to know what I think cause you'll get a little upset if I express my current opinion ;)
