OpenSUSE vs. Centos

I am trying to get a server with a predictive dialer set up. Right now, I am hesistating between Vicibox and Goautodial.

The main difference is that the underlying flavor of linux is OpenSUSE in one and CentOS in the other. Which one is better and why? I'm gonna be using this on an old P4.

Both are very good products. Both are intended to be run on servers generally and not old p4 desktops. So from that point I can't see using either. Might look to an older kernel distro???

Both should run fine on a P4. Are you going to use a GUI? If so, Gnome2 on CentOS will be less demanding than KDE on SUSE. Also, remember that OpenSUSE is the testbed for an enterprise distro, while CentOS is an enterprise distro.

Evergreen is probably as close as you'll ever get to free SLED/SLES, just putting that out there now. :)

the current evergreen only partly supports the VERY OLD opensuse 11.4
see the wiki page
http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime

http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Evergreen

i would NOT!!! recomend using that for any new install

also this is a 2+ year old thread
about opensuse VS CentOS

18 months of support ( opensuse)
VS
7 YEARS of support ( cent)
