Hi and welcome to LQ

The installer should have asked you to setup a password for root as well as to create a normal user account and password. If you set the password for root but did not create a normal user account, simply login as the user root, run the system administration tool (yast) and create a normal user account. Thats the account you should use on a daily basis and only login as root if you need to do system admin stuff. If you can't remember your password for root, try reinstalling.

You can always go to a command prompt by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1 for example and log in as root. Then start yast and go to Security and Users -> User Management and modify the 'normal' user you created.

If you don't know the root password then you'd better re-install when you're more awake...

Same problem as Juste

Hi,
I have the same problem as Justen.
I clearly remember that I never needed to fill any username or password before.

In the login window I can see one profile called "Live-CD User linux".
When I Press it, the username textbox filled with "linux" value
but I don't have the password.

Is there any default user?

If you run it only from the LIVE CD yes do not have to enter root password and user and user password.
But if you install it on youŕe HD at some point it will ask you for root
password and user name and password.
The difference is that starting with opensuse 11.0 you get the choice
of having the same password for the user and for root.
That is up to the installer
If it do not ask you for this two thinks than the media is broken.
Do you run a media check before installing ?
Opensuse gives that option in the beginning of fire up
