OpenOffice Spreadsheet layout option?

Subject: Open-Office spreadsheet

I'd just like to comment on the Open-Office spreadsheet layout.

I for one would like to see above the number "1" cell a Row added then at the front of that row a "(x)" - (for the x in the x, y coordinates and also so "(x)" would not be confused with a regular "x"). This would act as a Header row and any items added below a header would correspond sequentially to the numbers to the left column of numbers (so item number 5 would not be in row 6).

Something similar probably is not needed as much in the Alphabet characters row. However in front of the "A", a "(y)" could be used there, as in the x, y coordinates (again using "(y)" so as not to be confused with a regular "y"). Now it is programed so when you add a column or row the Alphabet row jumps over, and the Numeric column moves up.

I wonder if this new layout could be an added to the option menu?

Just a thought!

P. S. (x) and (y) could of course be substituted with maybe some other Greek or Latin character...?

Wouldn't it be better to submit this as a feature request to the OpenOffice.org developers? They are, after all, the ones who control which features their software has.

Will try again

It seems to me I tried to pass this info on a few years ago, and ran into some type of problem/red tape. However I will try again.

You might also try the LibreOffice developers. They might be more open to suggestions.

By the way, LibreOffice release candidate 2 is now available. I installed it today, but haven't done much except import my templates from Open Office. They imported smoothly.
