OpenOffice 2.4.1 installation in Fedora 8?

Hi,
I am not very experienced with Fedora and I want to install the new version of open office. I am running a Fedora 8 (64 bit) on my pc.

I have the file downloaded on my pc. I can see the openoffice writer on my on my office utilities but I would also like to use the others such as impress, draw calc and math.

Can anyone guide me through this?

Unfortunately AFAIK OOo only release 32 bit binaries and 2.4.x won't ever make it into the official F8 repos. You could install the binaries from the OOo website but personally I would try downloading the src RPM from Fedora 9 then rebuilding that for F8. I am not sure whether that will work because it may have dependencies that are not met under F8. I'm gonna give it a try and see how I get on. I'll report back on my success or otherwise.

If you don't really need 2.4.x then the 2.3.x release is in the official repositories. Just install it using Add/Remove software.
