how do I open the ports? I always have trouble with network etc type stuff.

yeah i need to open ports or turn off the firewall, can someone tell me where to do that, or the console commands?

what does fc3 use to configure the system? I've heard that you guys may have Yast 'cause of the United linux project is this true?

i don't know, but I got the files elsewhere (my friend got them then emailed me the files...)
