OpenGL with Redhat and ATI Rage

Hi, I'm dual-booting Redhat 8.0 and Windows 98. My computer is an AMD Athlon 2000+ (1.67 ghz) with 512mb RAM and an ATI Rage 128 16 mb AGP. It seems that Linux recognized the card- the OS runs in 24-bit color no problem, runs the preinstalled games, several other (older) games, and runs Unreal Tournament 2004 in software mode. However Unreal Tournament will not run in OpenGL mode, and says that OpenGL is not installed. Maybe Linux simply installed a generic ATI driver on my computer? Anyways, Unreal Tournament runs fine in Windows at 1024x768 at 16-bit color in Direct3D mode despite the oldness of my graphics card, yet only runs in Software under Linux. Where can I find the OpenGL driver for my crd and OS?
Also there seems to be a half-second delay in between the time something happens in Unreal Tournament and the time the sound from it actually plays. Does anyone know what this problem is?

I'm trying to figure out how in the world you even got UT2k4 to run on a 16 Meg card.

I know to even get OpenGL support in win 95/98 you had to install Either GLSetup from GLsetup.com (which has since closed shop, but is still available at majorgeeks, voodoofiles), or you had to install the vendor specific drivers. Wasn't till Win 2000 i believe, that OpenGL was supported natively in the OS, even though it was a generic driver.

Not sure what to say, who manufactured the card?? You can try driverguide to see if there is a Vendor specfic driver, or maybe the Standard ATI driver for that card for linux.

I really have no idea how my computer runs UT so well with its graphics card in Windows, all I want is to be able to run it that well in Linux.

Make sure you have DRI support on your system. This may have to be configured in your kernel; although, I would expect RedHat to have it enabled by default.

Also look in your X's configuration file and make sure the DRI libraries are being loaded. I don't remember how exactly, it's been a long time since I've done it and there may be a difference between X.org and XFree.

You know, now that I think of it, I think UT uses D3D by default.. I may be wrong.
