OpenGL not working on RHEL 6.1
I am trying to install a software package called Abaqus, and it is failing during the prereq check with the following message:
Fail: X server is not configured to use OpenGL. Verify that the DISPLAY environment variable is set to an X server that is configured to use OpenGL; otherwise contact system administration to have the X server configured to use OpenGL. We have the mesa packages installed according to yum. Is there some simple config issue that I missed? |
can you please post more information?
like what is this "Abaqus" a link would help . Google shows http://www.simulia.com/support/v610/v610_graphics.html and i have no idea if that IS what you are talking about also your 3d cards ( if you have any installed ) if Nvidia rhel6 uses the nouveau open driver for nvidia and requires a bunch of work to switch to the proprietary nvidia driver ( way more that a few mouse clicks) |
It turned out to be a non-issue. The software will actually use the X display of another system when running, whether an X workstation or an Exceed setup on a PC. The check for OpenGL on installation is not really relevant to the way the software will be used.
