open pdf-file inside emacs

Hi,
I am using Emacs 24 with AUCtex, I cannot to open my latex PDF output using C-c C-v inside Emacs in a separate buffer (the PDF-file is opened always outside the Emacs). I have tried to use the code

(require 'doc-view)

then got the warning:

"File error: Cannot open load file, cl-lib"

I did not find any useful suggestion on the website http://www.emacswiki.org/.
Can anybody give me some detailed suggestions explaining how I can set in my .emacs file to open the Latex output using C-c C-c?
Thanks
Dignaaga

Hi,

does it work if you explicitly open the pdf file in emacs? Eg C-x C-f foo.pdf

Hi, Evo2:
I tried your suggestion using C-x C-f to open a PDF-file , but it results in the minibufer with:

File mode specification error: (file-error "Cannot open load file" "cl-lib")

it is the same result, when I input M-x doc-view-mode. It seems to me that the problem is related to the "doc-view-el". I have downloaded "doc-view-el" in my ".emacs.d/lispe", however when I bye-compile it, I received the same warning:

doc-view.el:141:30:Error: Cannot open load file: cl-lib

Any more suggestion?

I think you'll need to upgrade to version 24.3+ of Emacs, or else downgrade to a lower version of doc-view-el. I found this searching for cl-lib:
Quote:
On a related note, my branch of package.el relies on `cl-lib' from 24.3.
... or use `cl-lib' and restrict your audience to 24.3 users.

Interesting. pdf display in emacs works fine for me with emacs 24.2 (and corresponding doc-view-el) as packaged in Debian unstable.
Code:
% dpkg -l '*emacs24*' | grep '^ii'
ii emacs24 24.2+1-1 amd64 GNU Emacs editor (with GTK+ user interface)
ii emacs24-bin-common 24.2+1-1 amd64 GNU Emacs editor's shared, architecture dependent files
ii emacs24-common 24.2+1-1 all GNU Emacs editor's shared, architecture independent infrastructure
% dlocate doc-view.elc
emacs24-common: /usr/share/emacs/24.2/lisp/doc-view.elc
Dignaaga: exactly what version of emacs are you using?

Evo2.
