Open Office File Association
I have installed Slackware 9.1 with dropline gnome 2.6. Since Open Office.org was not part of the dropline download, I downloaded it separately and installed it. However when I create a document with OOo and then double click on the document (it shows the proper icons), Gnome complains that it cannot find any file associated with it. Going to the menu path Applications-->Desktop Preferences-->Advanced-->File Types and programs application and setting the application for the documents (word processing and spreadsheet) to soffice -writer /soffice -calc and saving it does not do anything.
Is there anyway to set the default application for the various document types correctly ( if I am not doing it the right way in case)?
Its becoming a pain to open OOo and then get the file open via the File-->Open Menu everytime.
Btw I am using Nautilus as the file manager so I suppose something needs to be done in Nautilus also?
