Open file


Im i the directory "stuff" dir: launch

But i cant open the file launch, its plain text. How do i open it? tried /launch but then it says no such file or directory.

to opena text file, you would pass it as a parameter to an editor or such, e.g. "vi launch", your example /launch means you're trying to run an executable called launch in the root directory of your system.

If you've never used vi, consider using nano instead. vi makes people cry. Not that you should ignore it forever - it's got some awesome features.

To simply read the file:
more launch
less launch
cat launch| <some other command>

The last example is used to do all manner of thing, including searching for a word or phrase, eg:

cat launch|grep "the dog"
