Hi Majid, I just need a little more info to help you. So it sounds like you want to share files over a web server like Apache.

I believe the default web server root directory is '/var/www' --- what do you currently have in that directory? Also, when you enter your server machine's IP in your browser, what do you see?

You also might look at mod_autoindex, if you are using Apache (https://wiki.apache.org/httpd/DirectoryListings)

The first thing you have to do before going online is to upgrade your OS to a supported version, so that you get bugfixes and, more important, security updates. Ubuntu 10.10 is several versions out of date, I would recommend to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
After that have a look here: https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/httpd.html

I'd also recommend the Sticky posts in the Security Forum before you even think of going public.

Dear 2ck,

Thank you all for your reply. Yap you are right i want to share my file over web server using apache and /var/www/ is the directory, i have nothing in that directory but in future i will have php software for my office purpose and in local network when i enter IP it shows me this.

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

I have used TimeTrex, OpenKM and other OpenSource application.
